Magistrates, Judicial Officers Complete SABER Training on Small Claims Efficiency

Magistrates, Clerks, and Bailiffs from across Plateau State have concluded a two-day judicial efficiency workshop organized by the Plateau State SABER Reforms at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.

The training focused on improving the handling of Small Claims and Debt Recovery Matters through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms—an approach considered vital for speeding up business-related cases involving ₦10 million and below.

Addressing participants, the Chief Judge of Plateau State, Hon. Justice David G. Mann, underscored the importance of the Small Claims Court, emphasizing its role in enhancing Access to Justice and promoting quick Commercial Dispute Resolution.

State Reform Champion, Saber Samari Modibbo, described the workshop as a major step toward improving judicial performance. He noted that the simplified procedures and time-management strategies taught during the training will help reduce delays and make justice more accessible to citizens.

Also speaking, Uren Dawam, a Magistrate of the Plateau State Judiciary commended the initiative, stressing that understanding and implementing the rules of the Small Claims Court will significantly improve service delivery to the common man.

With the workshop concluded, judiciary officials are expected to deploy the knowledge gained to strengthen commercial dispute resolution and enhance overall judicial efficiency in Plateau State.
